Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

The little babies are being born!
Mom sent me some photos along with a narrative. It is as follows:
New calf born 2/26 - brought in to the house ( this is only the second time this has happened ) because he was too cold and could not get up because he was too big - needed to be warmed up and then put with his mother
after Dad brought the mother from the lower pasture into the barn using his trusty horse - the two were reunited....had to pick the calf up to get him to stand up and nurse,,,,,took most of the day off and on.he is doing just fine...for such a big boy - luckily the mother was super patient and didn't mind us fussing over her calf - last year she had twins! The day before Valentine's Daycoyote looking for calf poop ( better known as Ben & Jerry's in the dog/coyote world ) the day after Valentine's day ( it was pretty warm so the snow melted very fast! )about a week old calf - tagged with her mother's number. Tags in the left ear mean its a girl (heifer)....the calf's right ear, obviously a boy (bull calf)! it's a boy!
