Nightmare with a silver lining

Purchasing a house is a nerve-wracking process. For me, the house we are buying in Dallas means more than 4 walls and some trees in the backyard. It means a sanctuary where Jonny and I can settle when all this upheaval of graduate school is over. It means a place for Brutus to wander around and catch mice. It means an end to the 10+ years of “waiting” for a semi-normal life with a healthy and mutually-benefitting relationship.
So yeah, more than just a cute green house.
In an industry where the norm seems to be money-grabbing short-sightedness, I have been blessed to discover two individuals who possess a remarkable amount of integrity, honesty, and professionalism. My realtor (Alice) and my mortgage banker (Bill) have both impressed my socks off, and I would recommend them to ANYONE who asks. They have astounded me with their abilities to communicate, reassure me, and to push things through. They have never once mentioned commission. They have never once hesitated to call me on a weekend when a matter is pressing. They continue to show me just how capable and honest they are.
I am so lucky. And glad to have found a silver lining on the foreboding cloud of searching for a home and a mortgage during a recession.
PS: 4 & 7/8ths on my 30-year fixed. Awesome.
(For the jaded critics: this isn’t my first rodeo. This is the 3rd home I’ve purchased. But never have two people been so upstanding and capable as Alice and Bill. Unbelievable)
