National Geographic, December 1988

From a U.S. Council for Energy Awareness advertisement in the magazine:
"After all the hoopla and hurrahs, America still needs a new policy to cut dependence on foreign oil. Now that the election is over, we need a new national energy policy to encourage the development of proven alternatives to foreign oil, alternatives such as nuclear energy**. A sudden oil embargo today would devastate our economy and threaten our national security."
Also, "We need a balanced national energy policy that will stimulate the use of alternatives to the growing threat of foreign oil. These alternatives must enable America to use energy more efficiently, invigorate our economic growth, supply our growing electricity needs, protect our environment, and reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign oil."
Hm...
I think it was Mark Twain who said "History doesn't repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme."
**I am petrified by nuclear energy. Absolutely scared shitless of it. So let's not think I condone it just because it's mentioned.
