or so i discovered this weekend. i rode (as a fattie) completely out of my gourd at the athens twilight and roswell criteriums. i pushed myself, took chances, and had a grand time. (never you mind how i finished...)
mike time, mike time. thanks, dave towle!
anyway, the road trip is going well, 5 days into it. andrea and i were slap-happy on the drive down, enjoyed the athens/roswell weekend, and traveled with kathleen to walterboro, sc. the quality inn in walterboro is not the hilton, but they aren't grousing about our 12 targetraining kits that are drying in the southern sun out by the pool. so i'll take what i can get. and, i did get the continental breakfast waffles i so lust after on road trips. they make it all worthwhile...
this weekend is the criterium series in s.c. and alabama. it's gonna be great, cause all the big pro teams are sticking around and we get to throw down with the locals, too. the races will be hard with nowhere to hide. sweet!
here is me, wondering when the two girls are gonna pull through. this was the first roswell race i've done where i ever saw the front or went off of it. that was nice.
oh, and did i tell you about my cyclo-cross adventure? well, at roswell i was riding tina pic's wheel, and had loosened up my grip on my bars to grab a drink. i hit a bump/hole/god-knows-what, and suddenly found my hand in the spokes of my front wheel. i then headed inadvertently for the curb, made it over said curb, rode in the grass, then rejoined the field in a calm manner. nobody went down (though some newbies undoubtedly freaked out), and i went from 4th wheel to 70th. but it was okay...all i've got to show for it is a hole in my palm.i miss 'cross.
so much.
ps: little-known fact about my family. and you wonder why i've washed my car twice in the 20 months i've owned it?

Sounds like you are having a good time! Good luck in the rest of the crits, stay safe, oh and keep your fingers out of your spokes :-)
wind tunnel tests have shown that wheels are more aerodynamic without hands than with, but that if your hand is in your spokes, it is better if you're not wearing a glove.
knowledge is power.
i'm tired of hearing about your ass fat. can we talk about mine? sweet.
ay carumba- keep those hands away from wheels.
i figured that was you in that pic (seen earlier on cyclingnews)- it was the HAIR.
"if those two don't pull through so help me i'm gonna...."
