despite the fact that i kinda suck at finance, i had a great day. i got to run about 5 miles and felt dynamite. i got to watch the tour of california live, which i'd done the day before and enjoyed many minutes of sven's cute spandexed behind as he soloed for dozens of miles in no-man's land between a breakaway rider and the peloton. agony.
this evening i got all teared up buying this hand creme from eo. a very touching story. on that note, we had a spirited discussion in strategy class today on the separation (percieved or actual?) between a company doing well and doing good. poster child: timberland. a rousing conversation between 65 very intelligent and passionate students. we come from 65 different places and dozens of countries. opinions abound but always in a respectful, raise-your-hand-to-speak kinda way. just as mr. jefferson would have liked it! ah...viva darden. excuse me while i take a swig of kool-aid.
yet another feelgood note was this video i found of classmate adam nelson throwing shotput. homeboy is going to the olymics! i end up talking a lot about how tough it is to simultaneously maintain levels as high as darden in any other aspect of life. and mr. nelson goes ahead and blows that theory out of the water. he is a statistical outlier, but that's part of what makes him so inspiring.
on the track & field theme, a colleague of adam's and childhood friend of mine ian waltz proposes to his girlfriend stacy dragila via dvd. the star track & field couple. so cute.
lastly, some food for thought. make sure it's organic. read the comments. some rich stuff in there. this could be related to friday evening, which i spent watching mississippi masala and then discussing racial relations at darden and many of the percieved and actual tensions that may exist. it was a rousing talk and i am glad i attended. i would have liked to see more caucasian males there (ie more than 1), but oh well. it does not behoove me to make any blanket statements about that statistic.
lest i wax any more philosophical, i'll retire for the evening humming aesop rock's 'no regrets'.
goodnight, dear readers!

Nellie ROX.
I would say I know the feeling when the perception of a company wildly varies from the reality. I, er, studied cases like that! ;)
